That's the Whistling Rock - the wind blows through the fissures and obviously 'whistles!!Here is aboriginal painting and story about the surrounding bays - quite fascinating.
Its about 2 kids stealing an eagle's eggs hence depriving her of her future - so the eagle kidnaps the the 2 kids and puts them out to sea! Their mother is wacthing, waiting and crying for them to return .... but obviously they don't return!! 
This is Hellfire Bay - another beautiful swimming spot! Even if you are not a great beach bum - me - I could not not have a lots of swims even in icy waters!! As you can see there is noone there - if you feel the need for crowds - don't visit Esperance beaches!!
