Feed & Swim with the TUNA!!!

Here we are on the Tuna Express for a 15 minute trip to the pontoon to feed and swim with the lovely critters!!
The girls all lined up taking turns to feed the tame happy fish in the non-ferocious feeding/swimming 'pool'. This is where we will later snorkel in first before we get fed .. oops before we feed and swim with the mighty TUNA!!

A shot of one of the happy harmless blue fellas - can't remember its true fishy name!

Poppy finally getting brave and feeding a harmless bluey! Beleive it or not she got brave enough to feed the tuna later on ...

Yup folks that's a fin!!! But its a tune fin - looks like a minature FIN doesn't it! Luckily they weren't playing the theme from Jaws on the loud speakers!

Port Lincoln - 23rd-28th March - Ist day

Port Lincoln world famous for an assortment of fabulous seafood ... you name it they have it!! But we rather have a photo with the GREAT Makybe Diva!! She is located right on the foreshore in the centre of town ... a very beautiful sclupture ... and yes it was still raining ..... when will the barrier lift so that you guys can get the wet weather that the west sooooo needs and the east can have the sun it misses!! The only residents that enjoyed the weather were these Pacific Seagulls!!
We then visited the local aborignal art and craft centre .... it was great, we met one of the local famous artist Willey - his work was really beautiful ... I would have loved to have bought a piece of his work ... maybe next time ...we  could only afford a "pet" rock for each of the girls and a little jewellery box for my rings!! Better than nothing! Unfortunately we were not allowed to take any photos of the beautiful art work on display.

At least someone had fun at Coffin Bay

Well at least the girls managed to amuse themselves when they were allowed play time!! And in between the showers ... We were lucky enough to be there on a Sunday that they had a little market on in the Town Hall ...so we eagerly set off to the hall in the rain .... but alas there wasn't too much to fix one's urge for a bit of retail therapy!! Luckily we leave for Port Lincoln tomorrow ... I should be able to get a fix there!! I hope ....

Coffin Bay - a very quiet little fishing village

Coffin Bay(CB) - not much to do here if you are not a fisher person and you folks know that the only kind of fishing we do is at Aristos!! Yes ...sad indeed! Well CB is world renown for its lovely oysters .... the shots below are one of the few oyster farms just on the foreshore of the bay. We ate at least 15 each and wolfed them down in nano minutes ...would have been nano seconds but we had to schuck them ourselves! There are not too many people living here but I heard that during the summer months the population quadrples! The main occupation here is either a oyster farmer or a abalone diver .... both hard work but very lucrative ..... I opp for oyster farming as the other one tend to end being shark fodder .... If you enjoy eating oysters you must try some from Coffin Bay! Yummy! We were here from 19th - 22nd March ..... and it rained every single day ... and nite!! We wish were back in Bunbury ...mmmmm for a day of sunshine.

Colton Bakery & Elliston on the way to Coffin Bay

This is an amazing bakery in the middle of nowhere! It was about 12kms to the nearest little town Elliston.
Its called Colton Bakery specializing in wood fire baked bread and has been opened here since 1861!! According to the blurb its been making bread the same manner for the last 150 years.

We bought a packet of sticky buns, 6 lunch rolls and a wholemeal loaf all for $10.50!! Its based on a honesty system - put cash in a money tin and grab the bread of your choice $3.50 a pop! It was excellent yummy bread!

This is obviously the girls posing in a foolish but happy manner while standing on Elliston historic jetty .... I can't quite tell you why its historic besides being around for a long time ... I guess!

Shots of Talia Caves

These are a few photos of the scenic Talia Caves route.
Please take note of the 3rd yellow & black symbol on the bottom row .... if you can't see ...it is a drawing a white pointer!!

The Lawlors minus photographer ...
It has an interesting coastline .... the problem about travelling from the West to the East is that you would already have been to the BEST beaches in Ozland hence its quite hard to get excited about these ones .... we even met some folks from Byron Bay - they have declared that Lucky Beach & Hellfire Bay as being heaps better than Byron!!?? Well, when we get to Byron we will judge for ourselves and let you know the verdict!

Talia Caves - Eyre Peninsula

You can see this interesting 'tub' formation about 20kms from Venus Bay - its part of the rock formations along the coast called Talia Caves - can't remember why it's called that.

Once upon a time it a huge cave with a fabulous roof and its entrance was from the beach ..... then the sea took control and erosion won the war .... hence the tub!

The edges are still crumbling in hence lots of warning signs 'keep away from the edge' ... we took a little walk down the edge towards the ocean where you can see the original entrance which has recently been closed by a rock fall. If not you could actually walk around in the tub ..... I think you could, years ago maybe ...??

But don't believe me ...come see it for yourself!!
